Happy Birthday Kaggs
My big sister turns ahem today (although for her it’s already tomorrow) and for once her present was presented in advance, before she left for home on Monday.
She got:
and
except I’ve finished them now.
I included a note to point out that these are not just socks (and a book) – some thought has gone into throwing this present together. The sock patternĀ (Francie) is named after the main character in the book. The rib pattern on the sock is meant to be like tree bark. I read the book while knitting the second sock and used the goal of finishing the sock before the book to help me finish the project. Sadly, the reluctance was less about the pattern than the yarn – it was an eBay find & I’m not sure about its composition. I’d be willing to lay cash on it’s not having been near any animals other than our cat, and it hasn’t been *very* near her.
Karen was very polite, but I’m sure will be being quite careful about washing them before wearing, given her rampaging cat allergies. It’ll be a few months before she can wear them anyway, given that she’s going back to an Australian spring & summer…
Anyway – Happy Birthday, Kaggs! Enjoy your second hand book & scratchy socks…
