<\/p>\nShortly before last Christmas I finished a sweater that has been on the needles for longer than I care to mention. Indeed, it’s so far back in time that Ravelry doesn’t relate when it was begun. I remember discussing my planned alterations with my mum, though, and the blog posts go back to April 2008 where I was apparently having some trouble with said alterations.<\/p>\n
Anyway, a couple of dedicated sessions under my belt, a severe blocking which in no way cured the diagonal twist (chenille, it turns out, doesn’t flow over itself at all), and a several-month hiatus where I failed to screw up the courage to knit it together, and eventually I turned out a wearable sweater.<\/p>\n
It seems I then carried on the being-really-slow theme of this sweater by taking 9 months to get some photos taken of the finished item…<\/p>\n The original has more tucks & gathers – I replaced these with long ribs at the waist & wrists. They aren’t quite as fitted as mum & I envisaged, but still more “me” than the original design.<\/p>\n And just get a load of that detailing…<\/p>\n Quite pleased with this one: apparently no-one commented on it when I wore it for the first time because they thought it was shop bought.
