After a frankly too-early start at 05:50 (put J back to bed, but switched light on telling him he could read a book if he must, after 10 minutes he came through and said “but mummy I don’t need 10 more sleeps and read a book”, then stormed out and slammed his bedroom door behind him. another 10 minutes later he started banging on the door saying he needed a wee. At this point I gave up & got up) we had a pretty pleasant breakfast, I made jelly for later, we put together the Gredients for bread in the bread maker & set it off for lunchtime (although I lost a couple of hours somewhere – making 3-hour bread at 7 should have it ready for 10, no? How come it was only done at 11.30, then?). Daddy joined us & after some brief family time, I got to put my head down for an hour. I was woken by Joel coming in again (anyone else seeing a pattern developing here?) telling me he needed a wee. I said “go and do one, then” before remembering he was wearing dungarees (I got the kids dressed before going to bed) – he dutifully came back & let me undo the straps before heading off for the furthest-away downstairs toilet which meant he didn’t quite make it & daddy had to cope with replacing underpants.

So then I got up & Daddy went out campaigning. L&J played with cushions until I interrupted them and carted them off to the Library. Just as a by-word – Joel was dressed as Super Mario (hence the dungarees, with a red (wiggles) t-shirt) and Lily had on her pink sleeping beauty dress over her t-shirt & jeans. So we drove most of the 500 yards (I know, but it looked like rain & ever since we got “race to the rainbow” at Christmas, the kids have been very wary of “storm clouds”), parked on Burscough St and walked the rest of the way into town to the Library. Having chosen some books (BTW I came across “The Church Mouse” for the first time since giving birth – that series was one of my faves as a little-un. Lily not v impressed, maybe it was a bit long), done Lily’s monster read & *finally* got Joel’s book club certificate, we started to head back. We werehalf way between the library & the car when Joel announces he needs a poo-poo. At least 100 yards from anywhere we can reasonably expect to be allowed to use the loo, I decided we needed to call on the help of the hairdressers we were next to. Fair play, they didn’t bat an eyelid & thank goodness, as it would have been pretty messy. Giving effusive thanks, we left the premises, only for Joel to annouce the same thing again. I didn’t feel we could go back to the hairdresser’s, so went for the DIY shop 2-3 doors down. The chap seemed less pleased about it, but was equally accommodating. So we finally made it home with minimal mess/messing.

At home, we ate the bread for lunch (universally rejected by small people – I really liked it), followed by jelly (Joel claimed he had eaten mine – a ploy I think to be allowed to eat his own later on…) & fruit. By the time Daddy came home we’d had some telly-watching, a couple of arguments & the children were creating beautiful art in the playroom.

Then they went back to playing with cushions (in my fave location – the top of the stairs), and changed our bedding, until Daddy dragged them off to the supermarket and I got another hour or so’s peace. A bit of dinner and some super mario galaxy & cart, and then we had bedtime half an hour earlier, in honour of the clock change tonight. Speaking of which, I ought to hit the sack soon myself.

Having said that, I spend a short while play super mario galaxy myself this evening and have actually made it into the game after more attempts than I care to admit to…

And we totally missed earth hour -that would be when I was playing on the wii…

Today I was mostly knitting on the Francie socks – given that I’m nearing the end of the novel, I thought I should make an effort to finish the socks. Besides which, if I finish off the socks I can a) wear then & b) start Davina’s birthday shawl… You’ll be thrilled to hear I’ve finished the gusset shaping, and am working down the main bit of the foot. Another couple of hours & they’ll be all done. Bet you can’t wait ;o)

had a good one today.
