So. I fixed the problem with the armhole lengths, and started knitting the second sleeve. Which is when I noticed I’d done the sleeve increases according to the 22″ instructions, instead of the 24″ ones.

 I think this may be live-able with. The increases start earlier than they should, and occur more frequently, but I (fairly bizarrely) apparently remembered that I was doing the yellow (24″) size when it came to how many stitches I should have on my needle post-increase. And I knit it the right length. So the sleeves go wider a bit earlier than they should.

I’m going to plough on and hope that with the passage of time we may all forget this aspect of the lovely cardigan.

In brighter news, I’m nearly at the shaping at the top of arm 2, and I’m 3/4 the way along the second foot of the opal socks. And Joel’s cardigan is staring at me from the other sofa, reminding me he’s zipless still.

My excuses for bugging out and leaving him for another night…

1. I nearly gave myself a heart attack when doing the VAT return earlier by including last quarter, thus doubling the bill.
2. I had to do actual work just now, having forgotten to do it over the weekend.
3. It’s been really rainy today.
4. My sister arrives tomorrow (currently somewhere over NW Oz or Indian Ocean at this very moment. So, not surfing the net), so I’m confident no-one’s reading this anyway (Hi Deb!!)
5. Steve is playing Bonzo Dog clips from You-Tube and for some reason hasn’t played Our Tune, “Tubas in the Moonlight”. I can’t believe it isn’t there, I think just maybe the magic has gone from our marriage.
6. Beckham is playing in the England-US friendly. Thank you Fabio, you will do well here my son.
7. The cardigan is still too big for him. Summer will reappear any minute now, and render it pointless. There’s really no rush.

I’m off to see if I can mess up this cardi any other way before nightfall.
