One of our good friends hit A Landmark Age last week, and to celebrate he invited a group of friends to join him and his family in the lake district. We stayed at Bury Jubilee Youth Hostel, which is totally perfect for 26 people and other animals.

I made & took this large pile of nosh.

cake! and crumble!

We chilled, we walked, we ate “lunch” we walked, Lily left her hand knitted cardigan at the playground (it was still there the next morning, before anyone panics), we took part in a quiz and other shenanigans, we slept, did some other stuff.

Part of the evening’s entertainment, which was the game where you transfer maltesers from one bowl to another using a straw, didn’t work because the straws were too small. So instead, we saw who could drink through the longest straw.

All in all, a top weekend and now we have some new friends. The weather was lovely all weekend, as you can see.

And now, for the past 2 days, it’s been raining like it’s the end of the world.
