Walking from Deansgate Locks Premier Inn to Piccadilly was looking tortuous until I twigged that a canal route was viable.

It’s no gas street basin, but was considerably more pleasant at 9am than Portland Street, I think.

Made me quite homesick, it did. Shortly after taking the last photo here I passed a young woman carrying her vertiginous heels and walking barefoot. That brought out the parent/middle-aged fusspot in me fo sho….
