Unfamiliar, yet… A bit familiar

Staying with my aunt has been lovely. I’ve been to her home once before, just over 10 years ago. The decor is a mixture of things I’d never seen before and things which are really familiar. On the wall above, for example, the wooden ship roundels are from my Nana’s House and the small needlepoint of poppies (towards the bottom left, on dark blue) is one of my designs. There’s a set of four seasons pictures in the dining room that my Nana had, or maybe it was my parents, and there are pictures by my mother all over the place.

While still essentially American and _not_ home, the familiar touches give quite a comfortable feeling to the place for me.

Thank you for having me, Ann!
