I’ve finished the right hand front of my new cardigan & have started on the collar, the allegedly interesting part of the pattern, as it’s the bit with the fancy stitches. However, I’m not as engaged as I thought I’d be. I’ve done a pattern repeat and it’s looking good, but I’m not relishing doing another 6-8 inches of same. Why? The rows start at 122 stitches, then the pattern has you turn 1 stitch into 4 for one stitch in each repeat. Then you y/o & drop those 4 stitches on the next 4 lines. Then you p4 together. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not technically difficult, but the fiddliness of getting 4 st to purl together totally breaks my stride. And the rows are loooooooong.
Having said that, Norah Gaughan is a knitting goddess and hasn’t overloaded the cardi with pattern. Once I’ve ploughed through the collar, I’m more than half done with the patterning on the jumper.
