the socks that were never done, are done. I enjoyed this pattern, my problem may have been the wool, which is a pity as I have a fairly big cone of it left… and I’ve got 1/4 to 1/2 an inch of the book left, so target achieved there, too. If I thought I’d only be getting here in April when I started the book after Christmas, I would have been a bit depressed, I think. 3+ months on a book isn’t a great reading rate…
My only disappointment with the socks are that they look better from underneath the foot than on top. I spent much of my drive home yesterday planning a version with the sweeping curves on top of the foot…
In other knitting news, I’m at the point of casting on the last main piece of snowdrift – the collar. I cast on 119 stitches last night, knit the set-up row & was 2 stitches short on the pattern at the end of the row. Couldn’t face casting on for a 3rd time (the 1st time I didn’t have enough wool to 1-needle cast-on 119 stitches, just 108 *sigh*), so I knit some surface instead (man, those rows are taking a *looooong* time!). Will start again later!
Pictures later – it’s another lovely sunny day, so there’s a fighting chance I’ll get round to it.
