knitting update: verdigris gloves

At iKnit/Debbie’s I finished these very complicated-looking verdigris gloves. They’re knitted in Cherry Tree Hill Superwash Merino, shade Lichen. The pattern is from knitty.com

It’s fair to say they weren’t *easy* but they were also more straightforward than I thought. What’s more, I have more than half the yarn left, so another self-designed pair might be in order… we’ll see, eh?!

There were some challenges in this, some self-imposed. The pattern asked for a particular kind of super-stretchy cast on, which I couldn’t understand how to do, so… I didn’t do it, and did the long tail cast-on instead. I know, I’ve probably ruined them by doing so, but I was keen to get on. I *did* do the kitchener stitch bind-off which I agree is a really really good bind-off. I’ll be using it for any toe-up socks I knot from now on!

The self-imposed challenge was cable needle-free cables. It wasn’t so much a challenge as a revelation – once you get the confidence up, it a cinch!

These will be a gift for someone, because they’re a *bit* too small for me!
