knitting update: bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored, bored.

That may be an overstatement, but honestly, given what I’ve got on the go at the moment, it’s unusual that I’m frankly a little bored with all of them.

Forgive the panrs pics – they have been taken on my iPhone and the light is awful.

Firstly, so near and yet so far, the second not-Andy bag. The handle shown so far used up a whole ball of wool, so I need to see what else I have so the handle can be a reasonable size. It may look long, but it also forms the sides of the bag.

Also, this is yet again in the lanolin-rich wool which makes me feel greasy & stinky, so the-end-is-nigh is the main motivating factor here.

Next up, braided bodice wench blouse. I’ve remembered why this stalled in the first place. Knitting chenille is clunky. Knitting straight stocking stitch is not exciting. And I’ve had two sessions at this, and it doesn’t appear to be growing at all.

Again, so near and yet so far, this is very nearly there, and the second sleeve is the last bit I have to do before sewing up.

Next on the list is the mitred squares scarf. It’s going well, but I hadn’t anticipated how bitty having to do the squares individually would seem. I’m about half way through, given how much wool is left, although it’s hard to say whether this will be a sensible scarf length or if I’ll have to block it and call it a table runner… as an aside, I’m doing the exciting speed knitting (effectively picking) on this, and the rows are flashing by in a flashy flash. But they’re damned short rows, so it’s not really helping… a great deal.

…And finally, I’ve sewn on the collar and pinned in the zip on the snowdrift cardi. In pinning in the zip I spotted a problem which caused me to set it aside for a couple of days until I stopped hyperventilating and realized that actually, as I’m not entering it into any knitting competitions, it doesn’t really matter that much. I will explain in another post, reasonably soon.

Another factor is that I’ve sent off for some gunmetal nearly-black Debbie Bliss yarn to knit WoollyWormhead’s Vlora for Steve, at his request, and it will arrive ANY DAY NOW. I’m hoping that the lovely yarn and the pattern (it’s woollywormhead, for goodness’ sakes – it’ll be fab) will mean it’s a) my new favourite pattern and b) I’m so ON FIRE with the lovely pattern, and the lovely yarn that I’ll have finished it before I get bored with it.
