Now you see it, now you don’t

End-on view of the house, a wooden deck is in the foreground. dark patches (which are holes in the decking) are just about visible.

The house we bought had a lovely, spacious deck with amazing views (so, somewhat exposed) however, it looked like Rumpelstilskin had been having a party on it, as several of the boards had been smashed through. Also, trusty contractors Owen & Jerry have work to do repairing a hole in the roof, so lovely spacious deck had to go…

Where once there was a wooden deck outside the windows of the sub room, there is now a scrappy bit of bare-ish earth and type tracks...

We at least know now that if there was a nest of unwelcome creatures under the deck, they have had to move elsewhere at a moment’s notice. Eventually this will be replaced, but in the short term, we can enjoy walking around this bit of the house without worrying that we’re going to disappear… (we’ve picked up the water bowl since I took this picture!)

…And on a smaller scale, I did a bit of a thing this weekend on the box hedge, which was thratening to obscure the view…

A scrappy, overgrown, but ultimately healthy box hedge grows at the edge of an unkempt lawn, and in front of a bay window

And an after-I-cut-things-but-before-I-tidied-up picture from while we were taking a short rest.

the hedge from the previous picture looks smaller and squarer now. Piles of small branches and leaves sit on the path. A 50+ man and 20+ young person sit on a step, smiling at the camera. To the left of the picture, the view into the distance shows a mountain (Sliabh Foy) against a mostly-blue sky

I’ll neaten it up when electricity is easier, and I can get the hedge trimmers onto it.
