On second thoughts…

…I may have been a bit hastily dismissive of one of the patterns I mentioned yesterday. In a stunning demonstration of the power of publicity through blog posts, Brooklyn Tweed‘s conversation with Kyoko Nakayoshi has me looking at Rook again.

My original comments about how it isn’t suitable for me stand, however, what I glossed over was that I’m really impressed with the cabling pattern. The space inside the cables has texture. The three sets of loops across the front fit together very satisfyingly, and the extra line out “outlining” stitches on the outer edge of the cabled area really adds another dimension. In a good way. There’s a risk that this extra *illusion* of dimension hasn’t helped with my perception that this sweater wouldn’t be flattering for me, so I’m going to leave it there for a bit and continue considering it for a while longer…

I really should stop thinking so much, it really doesn’t help with my “to knit” list…
